Rubens presents an astounding collection of images and information on Jewish clothing styles from Biblical times up through the 19th century. The text is accessible and readable though a bit short on critical analysis. I’m not familiar enough with the topic to evaluate the scholarship, and though there is an extensive bibliography it covers mostly general works and the text itself is not footnoted. The images have detailed citations and descriptive text and are the heart of this publication. (There are 306 figures in all.)
