This is a 1973 Austin Productions Western Wall Orthodox Jewish Art Sculpture signed by the artist Synteli. The wall is where Jews go to pray. Jewish women were permitted the use of the wall if they use their prayer shawls but a new ruling Robinson’s Arch Prayer Platform attempts to circumvent the ruling made by Jerusalem District Court to give them legal permission to do so. Based on historical facts when Rome destroyed the Second Temple in 70 C.E. only one outer wall remained standing. It was an insignificant wall because it is not part of the Temple so it was spared for this very reason. For the Jews it was a part of a sacred building believed to be one of the holiest spot. Jews from all over the world made it a point that when they go on a pilgrimage to Palestine they head towards the Western Wall or Kotel ha-Ma’ aravi.
