Description

The title of this book, Yesterday's Faith for Tomorrow was no accidental choice. It is the lead pulpit essay in this volume and it is intended to show that the essays which follow are relevant to the needs and problems of the modern Jew and the modern man.
There are twenty-four essays in this volume, divided into four sections. Their titles suggest their contents and message.
"Yesterday's Faith for Tomorrow" deals with religion in general and with Judaism in particular as an ongoing concern and preoccupation of man.
"Religious Definitions of Life" argues
convincingly that human existence cannot be understood exclusively in secular terms. There is a religious dimension in life without which it is meaningless.
"The Contemporary Crisis" is portrayed in all of its lurid and ugly manifestations. Again the reader is invited to look to religion for salvation.
In the last section, entitled "The Two Worlds," Rabbi Lookstein becomes the optimistic man of faith. We may have lost the contemporary world. But man's genius can fashion a new world and a better one.
He draws upon the ancient sources of Judaism which he interprets for the modern man and the modern Jew. a little musty but in good condition)
