Description

The name of David Zaritsky has been known for decades among the readers of Hebrew in the world of observant jewry. It is a name regarded with affection and respect, for his pen produced writings that have consistently inspired and entertained an ever-growing circle of devoted readers. His first creative writings appeared in the orthodox jewish journals of Poland in the years before the Second World War, when he was yet a talmid (a student and disciple) of the hallowed Chofetz Chaim (Rav Yisroel Meir Kagan) of blessed memory, in the Yeshiva of Radin. The years of the War, a time of frightful suffering and anguish, he spent in the harrowing frosts of Siberia, in the bitter exile of life in the depths of the Soviet empire. In the aftermath of the War he was able to emigrate to Paris, and there he devoted himself with all his energy and enthusiasm to giving heart and courage to the pitifully small remnant of survivors, broken, shattered human beings, who were gathered in the city. His stream of articles and essays breathed new life into the embers of their waning spirit.
